Raising scores for more than 30 years

Since 1984, ZAPS Learning Company has been helping students earn their best ACT scores, PSAT scores, and SAT scores with targeted college test prep strategies. Students who take a ZAPS ACT Strategy Seminar or Webinar typically raise their scores on the ACT 1 to 4 points (max score:36). Those who have taken a PSAT/SAT Strategy Seminar or Webinar usually see increases of 5 to 15 points (max score:80) on the PSAT and 50 to 150 points (max score: 2400) on the SAT.

For example, the graph above shows the impact of the ZAPS ACT Test-Preparation Seminar on improving ACT scores at four high schools in Illinois and Colorado. Of the students in the study, 84.2% realized an increase in their Composite Score. In fact, 46.8% of all students increased their Composite Score by 3 or more points. The results of this study demonstrate the highly effective and positive impact of ZAPS instruction on student scores.

The study included 576 students who took the ACT for the first time in October 2011. These students participated in a five-hour seminar, and each received a ZAPS Study Guide and practice materials for the ACT subtests: English, Math, Reading, and Science. Following this preparation, the students again took the ACT in April 2012.

ACT Says test prep helps

According to the ACT College Readiness Study — which measured the results of programs like ZAPS — there is a statistical difference between students who take an effective test preparation program and those who do not.

While the guidance department in most schools is too under-staffed to engage directly in statistical analysis, a comparison of pre- and post-test results invariably shows a positive correlation between ACT scores and participation in the ZAPS ACT college test prep strategies seminar. The following reports all involved carefully controlled studies.
